NAWC statement
Michael Deane, executive director of the National Association of Water Companies, has released the following statement regarding World Water Day:
鈥淲e鈥檙e thrilled that four members of the National Association of Water Companies (NAWC) 鈥� including Middlesex Water Company, Connecticut Water, York Water Company, and Artesian Water 鈥� will be featured at [the] NASDAQ Closing Bell in honor of World Water Day, which this year [took] place on Saturday, March 22.
Water-related challenges
鈥淔or more than two decades, World Water Day has brought much-needed awareness to critical water issues and the NAWC fully supports the United Nations鈥� continued dedication to identifying solutions to the world鈥檚 most pressing water-related challenges.
鈥淣o individual, family, or business can thrive without access to safe, reliable water service 鈥� yet, the United Nations estimates that 780 million people lack access to safe drinking water globally. While Americans have come to expect safe, reliable water service, many are unaware that our nation鈥檚 aging infrastructure puts this at risk. These are very real challenges, and private sector investment in water is an essential part of the solution.鈥�
World Water Day
World Water Day was established in 1993 by the United Nations General Assembly. The day is an annual, international celebration held to recognize the importance of clean water and raise awareness of the need for sustainable water solutions and resources.
